Steps To Success

To get this Value Added Benefits (VABs), please complete the form below. A legal guardian must complete the form on behalf of the member under the age of 18.  The GED Digital packet will only be  approved and distributed once. If you have received a GED packet before; unfortunately, you do not qualify. If you do not meet criteria, you will be contacted.

Active members 16 and older must be registered or have completed at  least 40 hours of prep course work at a state-approved adult education  center; and completed the GED ready test. Once proof is submitted, the member can receive: 

  • Free GED Testing
  • Annual GED Testing Packet
  • Test Preparation Resources
  • Voucher to cover four required tests

Approximate value of benefit is $210 per member.

Qualification Requirement:

  • Must be ages 16 and older.
  • Must not currently be enrolled in high school or received a high school equivalency certificate or diploma. 
  • Must not have received a GED packet before from PSHP.
  • Must provide proof of registration or have completed at least 40  hours of prep course work at a state-approved adult education  center; and completed the GED ready test. 
  • Member must present the packet within the current benefit year (July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026).
  • Must have a valid state ID

This is funding that helps cover the cost of job  training and employment certifications through Goodwill Industries. Get career-ready in just a few months and take the next step toward a  brighter future.

Program Title – Technology & Career Pathway

  • Description – The Technology and Career Program (TCP) is a 16-week class that helps people get ready for jobs in technology and innovation. Students learn business, job, and life skills, plus how to manage money and invest. Training includes SCRUM, Microsoft Azure, and web development. After finishing, students earn certifications in SCRUM, Microsoft Azure, and web development.

Program Title – Phlebotomy Technician

  • Description – This Phlebotomy Training Program teaches students how to collect blood samples and prepare for the National Certified Phlebotomy Technician Exam. It helps students build the skills needed to start work in this high-demand field.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older, pass a drug screen, and background check

Program Title – Forklift Operator

  • Description – The Forklift Training Program helps students learn how to safely work in warehouses and storage areas. Students earn safety certifications to operate four types of forklifts: sit-down counterbalance, electric pallet jack, stand-up reach truck, and order picker. The program also includes OSHA 10, CPR, and first aid certification.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older and able to handle physical work in a warehouse setting

Program Title – Maintenance Technician

  • Description – The Maintenance Technician program gives 263 hours of classroom learning and hands-on training in the residential housing industry. Students will earn certifications in basic HVAC, EPA HVAC, appliance repair, National Swimming Association, and a 10-hour OSHA safety course. The program also helps students get jobs after finishing training.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older, have trade experience, pass a background check and drug screen, have a clean MVR, and be able to handle physical work

Program Title – Floor Custodial Technician

  • Description – The Floor Tech and Custodial Training Program teaches students how to clean and care for floors in many settings. Students learn how to strip and wax floors, buff, restore tile, clean carpets and upholstery, control infections, and use cleaning chemicals safely. Graduates earn certification as a Custodial or Floor Tech and can find jobs soon after finishing.

Program Title – Medical Billing & Coding

  • Description – This course teaches students how to handle patient records, billing, and insurance claims. It covers HIPAA rules, coding guidelines, and payment processes from start to finish. Students also learn business and life skills, including money management. After completing the program, students can earn a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and a certificate from Chattahoochee Technical School. Graduates are prepared for jobs soon after training.

Program Title – Forklift Operator

  • Description – The Forklift Training Program helps students learn how to safely use forklifts in warehouses and storage areas. Students get safety certifications and hands-on practice driving forklifts that move, lift, and stack materials. The class also includes the OSHA Safety course. After finishing, students will know how to do the job safely and correctly.

Program Title – Medical Administrative Assistant

  • Description – This program trains students to work in doctor’s offices or clinics. Medical Administrative Assistants help keep offices organized, greet patients, and manage records. Students can take the National Healthcare Association exam to become a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA).

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older, pass a drug screen and background check, and have basic computer or digital literacy skills

Program Title – Phlebotomy Technician

  • Description – This program prepares students to take the National Healthcare Association exam for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). Students learn how to collect blood samples safely and support medical teams in hospitals, labs, and blood centers.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older, pass a drug screen and background check

Program Title – EKG Technician

  • Description – This course prepares students for entry-level jobs as EKG Technicians. Students learn safety and compliance, how to record heart activity (EKG Acquisition), and how to read and understand EKG results. After completing the program, students can take the National Healthcare Association exam for Certified EKG Technician (CET).

Program Title – Intro to Business (Admin Skills)

  • Description – This class teaches basic business and office skills. Students learn how to write reports, solve problems, and complete office tasks. Lessons include quizzes, presentations, and a final test to check understanding. The course helps students gain the skills needed for office work and business jobs.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older, pass a drug screen and background check, and have basic computer or digital literacy skills

Program Title – Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP)

  • Description – The CGSP certification is recognized worldwide and shows you provide excellent guest service. Students learn many customer service skills for hospitality, retail, and tourism jobs. This certification also works for jobs in retail, transportation, and other customer service industries.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must pass a drug screen and background check

Program Title – Certified Maintenance Employee (CME)

  • Description – The CME is a global credential for workers in maintenance jobs. Students learn to do maintenance tasks safely, use checklists, track tools and supplies, and follow preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must pass a drug screen and background check and be able to do physical work

Program Title – Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Description – This program gives 6 weeks of hands-on training, including clinical practice, to teach essential patient care skills. A nursing instructor guides students to help them pass the state certification exam. Graduates earn a Georgia CNA license.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must pass a drug screen and background check, be able to do physical work, and complete math and reading assessments

Program Title – Child Development Associate (CDA)

  • Description – This program trains students for the national CDA certification. After finishing the coursework at Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, students complete an internship with a local childcare agency to gain work experience.

Program Title – Floor Technician & Custodial – Spartan Chemicals Certificate

  • Description – This program teaches floor care, cleaning, and environmental services. Students learn traditional and modern cleaning techniques and earn a Spartan Chemicals Certificate and a program completion certificate.

Program Title – Food Service / ServSafe Certified

  • Description – This program prepares students to work in restaurants or fast food. Students learn food safety basics and earn a ServSafe Certification.

Program Title – Manufacturing and Safety Forklift – OSHA Ten Certificates

  • Description – This program teaches students to safely operate forklifts and work in warehouses, storage, or materials handling. Students earn a Forklift Operator Safety Certificate and a General Industry OSHA Ten Hour Certificate.

Program Title – Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PTC)

  • Description – This program trains students to take the state exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. Students learn how to safely collect blood samples and care for patients during testing.

Program Title – Retail Industry Fundamentals Specialist

  • Description – This program teaches essential skills for retail jobs and excellent customer service. Students who complete the program earn a National Retail Federation (NRF) credential showing knowledge of daily retail operations.

Program Title – Construction Skills Training

  • Description – This program gives classroom lessons, group activities, and hands-on experience in construction. Students can earn up to 7 certifications after completing the program.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must pass a drug screen and background check, be able to do physical work, and complete math and reading assessments

Program Title – Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) – American Red Cross

  • Description – This course teaches First Aid, CPR, and AED use. Students learn to help people who have sudden cardiac arrest. Certification is valid for 2 years.

  • Description – This training course teaches students the knowledge needed to safely operate a powered industrial truck.

Program Title – Jockey Truck Training

  • Description – A jockey truck, or yard truck, is a small semi-tractor used to move container chassis in cargo yards, warehouses, or intermodal facilities. It works like a small train engine that moves rail cars. This course teaches students how to safely operate a jockey truck.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license; mandatory attendance; must be able to communicate clearly using speech, vision, and hearing; use hands for grasping and fine movements; perform tasks while standing, sitting, or walking; bend, squat, crawl, climb, and reach; lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; tolerate temperature and humidity changes; and work around dust, fumes, or gases

Program Title – Clinical Medical Assistance

  • Description – This program trains students to work as medical assistants in clinics and healthcare settings. Students learn how to help with medications and minor procedures, perform EKGs, collect lab samples, educate patients, and do other related tasks.

  • Pre-Requisite/Eligibility – Must be 18 or older, pass a drug screen and background check, and have basic computer or digital skills

Program Title – Phlebotomy Technician

  • Description – This program prepares students for the National Health career Association exam for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). Students learn to safely collect blood samples and work in hospitals, labs, and blood donor centers. It is a growing field with many job opportunities.

All programs require a high school diploma or equivalent or permission from Goodwill.
All classes are offered through a partnership with Savannah Technical College.
Students must meet with a Career Services Specialist to see if a scholarship is available.
Members are responsible for any remaining balance.

Scholarships cover:

  • Tuition ($1,800 to $2,300)
  • Transportation Voucher (maximum of $300)
  • Book Voucher (maximum of $100)

Consider applying for this scholarship if you are or will be:

  • 18 years of age or older at the time of school enrollment.
  • High school diploma or GED. If you don’t have either, we can help  you earn it!
  • Only one person per household can apply.

Before the member submits the application for the scholarship, please make sure to:

  • Select a course that interests you.
  • Review the course requirements to make sure you meet all the qualifications.
  • You must contact your local Goodwill to set up an appointment with a Goodwill representative to talk about the program.
  • Have you completed the Goodwill assessment?
    • If yes, you are ready to apply.
    • If no, please complete all the steps before submitting your application.

The submission deadline for applications is November 1, 2025.

Restrictions:

  • Limit of one (1) Peach State Health Plan applicant per household.
  • One (1) Job certification scholarship per person per lifetime.
  • A limited number of job certification scholarships will be awarded.
  • Once selected, scholarship recipients must provide proof of registration at their Goodwill Industries location before the funds are sent to Goodwill.
