Peach State Health Plan Helps Georgia Families Start the School Year Healthy and Ready to Learn

Date: 09/28/26

A successful school year starts with more than notebooks, backpacks and pencils. For families across Georgia, access to health resources and community support can help children begin the year healthy, prepared and ready to learn.

Throughout this year's back-to-school season, Peach State Health Plan worked alongside community partners to bring school supplies, health information and other essential resources directly to Georgia families. The health plan's Community Relations team participated in events across the state designed to support school readiness and the overall well-being of children and families.

Across 40 events, Peach State Health Plan and its community partners reached more than 16,780 students and families, connecting them to preventive care information, health resources and community support while distributing nearly 34,800 school supplies, backpacks and essential resources.

At select events, Pro Football Hall of Famer Champ Bailey and former NFL player and ESPN analyst Harry Douglas joined families, encouraging young people to prioritize education, healthy habits and choices that can help shape their future.

By bringing services and support directly into local communities, these events made it easier for families to access information and resources that contribute to a healthy school year. They also reflect Peach State Health Plan's commitment to addressing the factors outside the doctor's office that influence children's health and well-being.

Every new school year is an opportunity for students to learn, grow and reach their potential. By working alongside trusted community partners, Peach State Health Plan is helping connect Georgia families with the tools and support they need to thrive throughout the school year and beyond.
