Mission Moment: Improving Access to Oral Health Care

Date: 03/11/26

Access to preventive oral health care can shape far more than a smile. It can influence a child’s ability to focus on school, an adult’s overall health, and a family’s long-term well-being. That’s why Peach State Health Plan (PSHP) brings dental services directly into Georgia communities through Mobile Dental events as part of our Healthy Days in the Community initiative.

For some members who have coverage through Georgia’s Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs, accessing a dental provider is not always simple. Transportation challenges, limited provider availability, and busy schedules can delay routine preventive care. By delivering services in neighborhoods, schools, and familiar community spaces, we can ensure children and adults receive timely exams and preventive services without disrupting work, school, or daily responsibilities.

Mobile dental and community event days also create opportunities to connect with members beyond the visit itself. Health plan employees can answer questions about benefits, provide education, and connect families to social support resources when needed. Families frequently share their appreciation for receiving care close to home and for incentives tied to activities that support their needs.

Through Healthy Days in the Community, Peach State Health Plan reinforces its commitment to meeting members where they are and removing barriers to care.
