Barrow Together CommUNITY Fest Brings Support and Smiles to Winder
Date: 05/22/25
In response to the tragic school shooting at Apalachee High School on September 4, 2024, Peach State Health Plan, a leading care management organization serving Georgia and a Centene Corporation subsidiary, has remained committed to standing with the Winder community – offering continued support, care, and compassion as they work toward healing.
As a symbol of unity and resilience, Peach State Health Plan partnered with Apalachee High School, Barrow County School System, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Centene Foundation, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame to host the Barrow Together CommUNITY Fest on May 10, 2025.
This uplifting event served as a reminder that the Winder community is strong, united, and surrounded by those who care. Families and children enjoyed a variety of fun, creative activities, including crafting Mother’s Day flower bouquets and cards, making friendship bracelets, and caricature drawings.
Attendees also benefited from free vision screenings provided by the Centene Vision Van, along with valuable mental and behavioral health resources from Advantage Behavioral Health Systems, View Point Health, and Kate’s Club.
Adding to the day’s excitement, former Atlanta Falcon and current ESPN sports analyst Harry Douglas, also a Peach State Health Plan Ambassador, made a special appearance. The energy continued with the Atlanta Falcons Street Team, featuring Freddie Falcon and the team’s cheerleaders, who brought fun and enthusiasm to the celebration.
