ATLANTA, GEORGIA (January 5, 2012) – Peach State Health Plan (Peach State), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), has achieved national Health Plan Accreditation with a Commendable status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA Health Plan Accreditation is a nationally-recognized evaluation that purchasers, regulators and consumers can use to assess health plans.

“Achieving an accreditation status of Commendable from NCQA is a sign that a health plan is serious about quality,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, president, NCQA. “It is awarded to plans whose service and clinical quality meet or exceed NCQA’s rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement.”

“We are very pleased to be recognized for this accomplishment, “said Patrick M. Healy, president and chief executive officer of Peach State Health Plan. “It is a reflection of the dedication from our health plan staff, network of physicians, hospitals and other providers to our members.  We continue to be committed to raising the quality of healthcare for the Georgians we serve.”

The NCQA Accreditation process involves a comprehensive review of the quality programs, clinical service measurements, as well as a rigorous on- and off-site evaluation by a team of trained healthcare experts. NCQA Accreditation standards are set high to encourage health plans to continuously enhance their quality.
