Important Notice on Notification of Deliveries
RE: Notification for Newborn Deliveries
Dear: Peach State Health Plan Hospital Providers
This notice is to advise you of an important change in our newborn notification process. In an effort to streamline the notification process for hospitals that perform newborn deliveries, Peach State is changing the notification requirements.
Effective immediately, Peach State only requires hospitals to fax notification for OB admissions once the delivery has occurred and you have obtained the Medicaid number for the baby. Hospitals no longer need to call or fax information when the patient is initially admitted for delivery. This will streamline the current notification process, eliminate the repeat faxes to notify us, and provide us with all of the data needed to load the claim for review and appropriate processing once the delivery is completed.
The following information must be supplied once the delivery is complete in order to review the claim for reimbursement approval:
1. Member Name (mother)
2. Member Medicaid Number (mother)
3. Newborn Name
4. Newborn Medicaid Number
5. Facility Name
6. Physician/Providers name performing the delivery
7. Admit Date
8. Delivery Date
9. Type of delivery
10. Gender of the Newborn
11. Weight of the Newborn
12. Apgar scores for the Newborn
13. Gestational age of baby (if known)
14. Status of newborn, i.e. well baby or sick baby
15. Admission location of the Newborn (Newborn Nursery, Special Care Nursery, NICU, etc.)
Please continue to notify us of all other admissions by the next business day, including admissions for preterm labor/threatened premature labor.
We sincerely hope that this change will streamline the current notification process internally for you and assist us in getting the appropriate information to generate the authorization.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to call your Provider Relations Specialist or call 866-874-0633.
Sincerely,
Peach State Health Plan
